Me and my wife had a dream to make a kitsch/retro Thai Restaurant. We wanted it not only to be a restaurant, but also to give you a feeling of being as guests in our home.
Before we started, all my friends told me not to go into the restaurant business. “You give it a finger and it will take the whole hand”. That sounded like a good challenge for us, so we started to look for a place.
Our chef, Butsaba, has made food since she was 10 years old. Her main teacher has been her grandmother and life in general. She had a restaurant in Nakonsowan, Thailand for many years, but since we have moved to Tallinn, we decided to start one here.
I am an actor and a teater director, who didn’t know anything about the restaurant business. Since we started, it has been a beautiful journey into the unknown. I have directed around 40 plays and been acting in about 100. Starting Very Thai has been at least as creative and fun as making theater. Many times I've felt lost and I enjoyed it.
So, here we are, ready to serve you the real Thai cuisine with all the traditional recipes but also some special dishes from Isan.
